Rain lashed against the windows of the Blackwood Academy, mirroring the grim condition of my history essay. It was due immediately, and I was nowhere near finished.
Suddenly, a holographic screen flickered into existence above my desk. A strangely dressed individual, radiating authority, materialized within the light.
"Student Elara Vance," the figure stated, its voice echoing strangely. "You have been selected to distribute a… package. The fate of many worlds depends on your discretion."
My jaw dropped. My initial reaction was disbelief, some degree of hesitation, followed by pure amazement.
A small, ornate box shimmered into being in my hands. I stared at it, my mind reeling.
The holographic figure smiled, a disconcertingly genuine expression. "Do not be astonished, Ms. Vance. Your aptitude for problem-solving has been observed. Now, proceed. The instructions are within."
With another flicker, the figure vanished, leaving me alone in the stormy darkness of my dorm, holding a box that potentially held the key to… well, something unbelievably important. The essay? Utterly forgotten.
